Morocco, known for its vibrant colors, rich history, and diverse landscapes, has so much to offer travelers seeking adventure and culture. Ideally you’d have a month or more to explore all this country has to offer, but realistically, most travelers will find themselves with little more than a week. That’s okay. Here’s how to get a taste of Morocco’s magic in just one week.

Explore Marrakech

Upon arriving in Marrakech, begin at the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where you’ll find snake charmers, henna artists, and street food vendors. Wander through the colorful souks, picking up souvenirs and immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere. Dedicate a second day in Marrakech to visiting some of the city’s most beautiful landmarks. Start with the serene Majorelle Garden, an enchanting oasis designed by the French painter Jacques Majorelle. Next, head to the Bahia Palace, a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture adorned with intricate tilework and vibrant gardens.

Round out your time in Marrakech by indulging in a luxurious hammam experience. Visit a traditional Moroccan spa for a rejuvenating steam bath, followed by a body scrub and massage. Afterward, join a Moroccan cooking class to learn how to prepare delicious local dishes using fresh ingredients from the market.

Journey to the Agafay Desert

Venture 45 minutes from Marrakech to the Agafay Desert. This rocky lunar landscape offers a desert experience many never get to see. Embark on a guided camel trek or a thrilling quad bike adventure through the stunning terrain. As the sun sets, relax at a luxury desert camp and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars.

The UNESCO city of Essaouira

Spend the second half of your trip day six discovering the streets and sites of Essaouira. Wander through the UNESCO-listed Medina, visit the Moulay Hassan Square, and explore the Skala de la Ville, a historic seafront fortress. Don’t miss the opportunity to browse the local artisan shops, where you’ll find exquisite handcrafted items such as wood carvings, textiles, and jewelry. Spend the evenings strolling along the picturesque harbor, admiring the vibrant blue fishing boats and historic city walls.
