Saranac Lake, in Upstate New York, is known for its many outdoor recreational activities, including kayaking. With three major water bodies to explore — Upper Saranac, Middle Saranac, and Lower Saranac Lakes – the area provides a variety of paddling opportunities for people of all experience levels.

Upper Saranac Lake offers longer, scenic routes with relatively calm waters. Located just outside of the town of Saranac Lake, this lake is a popular choice for day trips and longer adventures. You’ll find plenty of shoreline to explore, as well as quiet coves ideal for taking in nature or fishing.

The Middle and Lower Saranac Lakes offer a more intense experience for experienced kayakers looking for a challenge. These two lakes are connected by the Saranac River and feature faster currents, as well as rocky outcrops that provide excellent views of nature.

Live music in Saranac Lake

Saranac Lake is also home to a thriving music scene. The town offers live music of all genres year-round in venues such as the Adirondack Pub & Brewery and the Waterhole, both located in downtown Saranac Lake. For more intimate performances, check out The Big Moose Inn or Ommegang Brewery.

If you’re looking for a festival atmosphere, head to the annual Bluesapalooza Music Festival in June. This two-day event features top blues performers from across the country, as well as local favorites. There’s also an artist showcase, art exhibition and beer garden.
