Chicago, Illinois is home to some of America’s most well-known and original architectural achievements. While many American cities have buildings dating back hundreds of years, most of downtown Chicago’s current buildings were built after the Great Chicago Fire destroyed most of the city.

Modern architect Fazlur Khan is responsible for some of Chicago’s most prominent buildings. Khan introduced tube-frame construction to the city, which he later used to build the John Hancock Center and the Willis Tower (formally known as Sears Tower).

Chicago’s unique architecture has made it popular with many photographers, and we have collected some of the most impressive images that showcase Chicago’s unparalleled architecture.
