St. Martin’s Press and Matador are stoked to announce the forthcoming publication of the book 101 Places to Get F*cked Up Before You Die.

PART TRAVEL GUIDE, PART SOCIAL COMMENTARY, and part drunken cultural anthropology, 101 Places goes where no travel book has gone before. Join Matador’s crew of award winning travel journalists and ambassadors plus an all-star cast of party-crashers as we breach security, ride ill-recommended ferries, and hike miles into the wilderness to report on partying possibilities all over. Whether it’s calling out wankers at cliched Vegas blowouts or stumbling upon sudden transcendence off the map in Southern Brazil, 101 Places will give insightful, hilarious, and at times unexpectedly poignant portraits of place, travel, and culture around the world.

The book will also contain 25 original color photographs from leading surf, lifestyle, and travel photographers such as Chris Burkard (featured above). It will be published and distributed nationally in 2014.

What about Mykonos? It’s cray-cray over there.

  2. Carles Ventura says:

I’ve seen Ibiza [summer season] but what about Menorca island? the paradise, could it be also considered?

  3. Helen Mitchell says:

Planning on submitting something about Nola, but how about Natchez, MS?

  4. Young Adventuress says:

Are the entries due Jan 14th or 15th? There is a discrepancy in the dates listed above. Can we submit entries on places not included on this list?

  5. Armando Silva says:

What about san fermin Pamplona and carnival Canary Islands

  6. James Hendicott says:

Just to let you guys know – the phone number part of the form doesn’t deal well with international numbers. My phone number doesn’t fit the expected pattern, so I put most of it on the form and a note with the full number at the top of the submission. I really enjoyed writing this, I hope it’s to your liking!

  7. Peter Pulcinella Parker says:

I submitted a piece on Dublin, I hope you like it…If you do or if the deadline gets extended I think I could do one on Rome and Cape Town, unfortunately I had no time..thanks for the opportunity anyways!

  8. Sherman Jenny says:

Any chance the deadline was extended?

    • Carlo Alcos says:

Hi Sherman…the deadline hasn’t been extended per se, but please feel free to write directly to editors at matadornetwork dot com.
