According to new booking and search data from Airbnb, fall-themed travel wishlists are growing this year compared to last, led by five key search terms: fall getaway, fall foliage, leaf peeping, apple picking, and fall roadtrip. Travelers are booking weekend trips rather than extended vacations, which means they can enjoy more than one location over the course of the season. They’re also booking lore travel more than ever before, chasing nostalgia and legend to the far corners of the earth. Below are the top places being booked for foliage and fall festivities this year, with nearly every spot offering both beautiful fall colors alongside a post-leaf-peeping thrill like a scenic railway, a hot spring, a brewery patio, or an orchard.
