Located in the Cheyenne foothills in Colorado Springs, The Broadmoor is the gateway to the Rockies. This five-star hotel has been on the scene for over a century, offering first-rate hospitality through its lodgings, dining options, and spa. Beyond the main campus, The Broadmoor manages three all-inclusive Wilderness Experience packages between May and October.

Cloud Camp is a mountaintop retreat rising 3,000 feet above The Broadmoor with seven rooms in the main lodge and a further 15 cabins dotted amid pine and aspen trees, as well as two shared hot tubs for guests to use. Meals — included in the all-inclusive rate — are served in a space designed to encourage but not mandate socializing with fellow guests. Those staying in September and October will benefit from dishes featuring Burgundy Black Truffles. All activities, inspired by summer camps, are also included in the rate. Guided hikes, mule rides, archery classes, birding, and stargazing are among these.

The Ranch at Emerald Valley follows the same concept, with lodging, meals, activities, and transportation covered in the all-inclusive rate. This Wilderness Experience is inspired by Western ranch culture and the Mountain State’s outdoor scene, with horse riding, fly fishing, mountain biking, and kayaking available to guests. There are 13 cabins plus one three-bedroom cottage rental.

Fly Fishing Camp is situated 75 minutes west of The Broadmoor, along a five-mile stretch of the Tarryall River. As the name suggests, this is an angler’s paradise, with prime fishing for wild brown, brook, cutthroat, and rainbow trout under the tutelage of professional guides in the backyard. Additional activities include hiking, bird watching, stargazing, and a plethora of games, meaning you needn’t be a fishing fanatic to have an awesome time.

Part of the ultra-luxe Relais & Châteaux, Triple Creek Ranch in Darby, Montana, is another all-inclusive retreat in the United States anchored in outback culture. Surrounded by the Bitterroot Mountain Range of the Montana Rockies, the accommodation is confined to individually-designed log cabins fitted with open fires, wraparound terraces, and original Western art. These also come furnished with refrigerators, coffee makers, and complimentary snacks and beverages.

While it would be all too easy to hole up in your cabin for the entire stay, the resort is geared for getting outside in all seasons, all weather conditions – you can even go horseback riding in waist-deep snow. Additional winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and dog sledding at the nearby Lost Trail Ski Area. Triple Creek Ranch also runs introductory sessions in mountain biking, cattle drives, and a wide assortment of fishing experiences. Besides its scheduled activities, the ranch runs regular events such as art workshops, artist residencies, puzzle weekends, and cowboy camps.

Gastronomy is a whole other story at Triple Creek. Gourmet meals are served in the property’s restaurant or Rooftop Lounge, with in-cabin dining available on request. Boxed breakfasts and lunches are available to those on the go, as are five-course Chef’s Table experiences and cooking classes which awaken anyone’s inner Anthony Bourdain.

Rates at Triple Creek Ranch are calculated for the cost of two adults sharing a cabin, with discounts available to solo travelers. While most activities are included, premium experiences carry an additional fee, so you’ll want to browse the website and draw up a budget in advance.
