The Best Dog-Friendly Destinations of 2026: Jupiter, Florida

Pets Beaches and Islands

Return to the full list of the best dog-friendly places to go in 2026

OSome say that Jupiter’s claim to fame is its striking red lighthouse from 1860, but some might say that’s second only to the town’s avant-garde dog policy. In 1989, Jupiter started allowing dogs on its beaches, and the dog-loving approach is still going strong 37 years later.

Today, Jupiter is one of the very few Florida beaches where you can take your dog off leash without any restrictions. The 2.5-mile stretch of sand between beach markers 26 and 57 is designated for your dog to have the time of their life digging holes, rolling in wet sand, and frolicking in the waves. All that’s asked of you is that you be a responsible pet owner and pick up after your dog so that the beach stays clean. And even that is made super easy, thanks to the non-profit organization Friends of Jupiter Beach that provides dog waste bags throughout the area.

Outside of that particular stretch of sand, dogs need to be kept leash — unless you take them to one of the two large dog parks in town. The 13-acre Cinquez Park has separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, a dog-washing station, and even shaded benches for dog owners to sit and relax while their pups have the zoomies. The 24-acre FIND Park also has separate areas for big and small dogs to run around. Just make sure you read the rules of each park thoroughly before you go.

If it’s water-based activities you’re after, pay a visit to Salty Dog Paddle at the Jupiter Lighthouse Inlet. The non-profit rents dog-friendly SUPs, kayaks, and surfboards, as well as life jackets for your pup. Tours and lessons are also on offer if that’s more your speed, but no matter what you opt for, all the proceeds go to save injured rescued dogs.

When it’s time to eat after a busy day exploring Jupiter, there are dozens of food and drink venues in Jupiter that will welcome your dog. The two standout venues are the Berry Fresh Cafe and the Dive Bar (a waterfront seafood and sushi eatery), where the staff will welcome your dog with water bowls without you needing to ask.

If you’re planning a visit, think of Jupiter as a destination where your dog isn’t just tolerated but expected. Pack a few extra towels, bring plenty of poop bags even though the beach is well stocked, and be ready for your pup to come home pleasantly exhausted. With off-leash beaches, sprawling dog parks, and dog-welcoming patios, Jupiter makes it very easy for four-legged travelers to feel like true VIPs: very important pups.
