Kansas City will host six World Cup matches, including a quarterfinal, at its Arrowhead Stadium, dubbed Kansas City Stadium for the tournament, and has been selected as a base camp hub by four national teams — Algeria, Argentina, England, and the Netherlands. That concentration of teams, training bases, and matches (not to mention pubs and restaurants) means that fans who base themselves in the core are likely to share trains, buses, and coffee lines with supporters from across the world.
“Kansas City may be the smallest Host City for the FIFA World Cup 2026, but we are at the heart of this tournament — and at the center of the country,” a KC2026 spokesperson told Matador. “We’re also one of the only Host Cities to welcome four Team Base Camps, including three Pot 1 teams, Argentina, England, and the Netherlands, making Kansas City a hub for global soccer and diversity. We can’t wait to show the world why Kansas City is the Soccer Capital of America.”
