2026 World Cup Guide: Kansas City
Return to Matador Network’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Travel Guide.
Kansas City is enhancing its infrastructure to accommodate an expected 650,000 visitors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including plans to add 200 buses to improve transportation among key locations such as the airport, downtown, and major hotels. This will make it easier to travel between the official FIFA Fan Festival, held at the National WWI Museum and Memorial grounds, and the matches at Arrowhead Stadium.
The newly unveiled “Woven Together” poster, designed by local artist Jadie Arnett, encapsulates Kansas City’s unique culture and identity, featuring local icons such as barbecue sauce, streetcar wires, and Union Station fountains. Whether you visit for one match or stay for a month or more, the city will be buzzing with activity — especially once the elimination rounds begin.
Venue: Arrowhead Stadium
Capacity: 76,000

How to get to Arrowhead from downtown

To get to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium from central Kansas City, you have several options. By public transit, you can take the KCATA bus Route 47, which serves the stadium area from downtown Kansas City to the Truman Sports Complex, where Arrowhead is located. For rideshare services like Uber or Lyft, simply request a ride to “One Arrowhead Drive, Kansas City, MO,” and you will be dropped off near the stadium entrances — though note that, due to congestion, it may be easier to be dropped off near the edge of the Dubliner Circle loop and walk through a parking lot toward the gates. If carpooling, the stadium offers ample parking at the Truman Sports Complex.
KCATA’s Metro bus service does not run directly to the stadium as of now, though most of the new buses will likely be used for game-day transportation. Check RideKC for shuttle info closer to the Kansas City World Cup dates.
Official Fan Zones for the Kansas City World Cup Matches
The FIFA Fan Festival will be held at the National WWI Museum and Memorial grounds, one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. More details will be announced at this link once official information is available.
