New Yorkers looking to escape the winter chill this year will have new direct flight options to Florida with American Airlines. The new routes will be available from November 5, 2024, to May 4, 2025. The new schedule will strengthen American Airlines’ presence in the New York-to-Florida travel corridor and offer more flexibility and convenience when planning your escape from the freezing temperatures.
3 New American Airlines Routes Make It Easier to Get From NYC to Florida This Winter
Three additional routes will be added from LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), Florida. A direct flight has also been added from LaGuardia to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY).
- Palm Beach International Airport — twice-daily flights
- Orlando International Airport — twice-daily flights
- Sarasota Bradenton International Airport — one daily flight
- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport — one daily flight
For those planning a winter escape from New York City, these new American Airlines routes offer a direct and convenient way to reach Florida’s year-round sunshine. Florida’s popularity as a winter getaway means prices and crowds can rise, so booking accommodations ahead of time is recommended. It’s also dry season in the state, which makes family days at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando and outdoor activities at Everglades National Park easier to plan for.

American Airlines also announced last month that they were adding new direct routes to the Caribbean this winter. For east coasters, from November, there will be a daily service from New York (JFK) to Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI) and a Saturday service to St. Lucia (UVF), St. Maarten (SXM), and Argyle International Airport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVD). American will become the only major US airline with a direct flight to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
