Traveling in the era of COVID-19 is a risky business. You might feel perfectly healthy when you embark, but the prospect of developing symptoms during your trip could be enough to deter you from traveling at all. Emirates is trying to give passengers peace of mind by offering to cover medical expenses, up to $174,456, plus quarantine costs of $116 per day (for 14 days) if passengers are diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip.

This enticing offer applies only to passengers flying Emirates into any destination, at no extra cost to the customer, no matter the class of travel. Costs will be covered for qualifying passengers until October 31 (first flight must be completed on or before October 31) and is valid for 31 days after the passenger departs on the first leg of their journey.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive said, “Emirates is proud to lead the way in boosting confidence for international travel. We know people are yearning to fly as borders around the world gradually re-open, but they are seeking flexibility and assurances should something unforeseen happen during their travel.”

To be eligible for the coverage, passengers don’t need to register or fill out any special forms, but if they are diagnosed with COVID-19 during their travel, they must contact a dedicated hotline to obtain assistance and coverage.
