If soaking in a remote hot spring while watching a cotton-candy sunset is your definition of paradise, this new infinity pool in Iceland might just fit the bill. The Pursuit collection, a company known for delivering unique travel experiences, unveiled a plan for Sky Lagoon — an oceanfront geothermal lagoon in Kársnes Harbor, Kópavogur, just a few minutes away from Reykjavik’s center.

The 230-foot lagoon has been designed to blend into its surrounding landscape and will offer unobstructed views of the Atlantic and, when in season, the northern lights. Inspired by Iceland’s long-standing spa culture, Sky Lagoon will aim to provide the ultimate restoration experience.

On the premises, you’ll find a waterfall and authentic turf-houses with deep insulation for the cold season and moss roofs — a signature Icelandic feature.

“Spending time relaxing in natural geothermal waters is an integral part of our culture here in Iceland. Sky Lagoon’s multi-sensory oasis will feature an ocean-side infinity-edge design in addition to cold pool and sauna experiences. Additional amenities will include an in-lagoon bar, dining experience, and unique retail offerings,” Dagny Petursdottir, Sky Lagoon’s general manager, said in a press release.

Sky Lagoon is set to open in the spring of 2021.
