This weekend, the largest and most stunning wildlife migration in the world will be visible in the palm of your hand. On Saturday, August 28, the annual migration of millions of Africa’s most iconic animals will be live-streamed on TikTok.

The Great Migration is the remarkable movement of over two million wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and other mammals from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the fresh grasses of Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. As they cross the Mara River on their perilous journey, thousands of wildebeest and zebras are killed by hungry, leaping crocodiles.

The migration has been the subject of countless award-winning documentaries, and in fact, the live-stream content will be curated by renowned nature photographer Jeffrey Wu. If you do spot some scenes of the annual bloodbath at the Mara River, you’ll be heartened to know that it’s actually vital to the ecosystem.

You can watch the Great Migration on Tik Tok’s official Africa account on Saturday, August 28, from 10:30 to midnight Eastern and again on Sunday, August 29, from 3:30 to 7:00 AM Eastern. As you marvel at one of Africa’s most famous natural wonders, test your biodiversity knowledge on the TikTok challenge.

The streaming of the Great Migration on TikTok is a joint project of the Kenya Tourism Board, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and Conservation International.
