South Iceland Is a Dreamworld

Iceland Photo + Video + Film

MY GIRLFRIEND and I traveled through the dreamworld that is South Iceland for seven days. This was our route:

Keflavik – Reykjavik – Hveragerði – Selfoss – Seljandsfoss – Vik – Laufskálavarða – Skaftafell

We also visited every part of the Golden Circle. Strokkur Geysir was the farthest north we reached.

We traveled by campervan, which was great because we didn’t have to stay in hotels or plan too much. Basically we just stopped and got footage along the way, everywhere that had good shooting conditions. I always shoot pictures on road trips, but this was the first time we focused on shooting video.

Technical notes:

All video shot with a Canon 5D MarkIII which I connected to an Atomos Shogun recorder. The Atomos recorder lets you record footage in much higher quality which gives you more to work with afterwards when you’re color grading. I also used some retro lenses to give the video a more cinematic look.

After the trip, I searched for the perfect music online and ended up using a track I found on Musicbed by Tony Anderson. He is such a talented composer.
