Craigellachie’s 51-Year-Old Whisky Will Be 'Uncollectible'

Craigellachie whisky just announced the release of its oldest whisky yet, and unlike other aged whiskies, Craigellachie is actually planning to make it available and affordable.

A 62-year-old bottle of Macallan was auctioned for $1.5 million, and a 50-year-old bottle of Johnnie Walker was recently put on the market for $50,000, but the Craigellachie 51-Year-Old has no price tag attached to it. Instead, it’s being offered to a lucky group of whisky fans at a pop-up bar in New York City, called Bar 51. You can now enter to win one of 150 available seats at the exclusive bar, which made its debut in London recently.

New York’s Bar 51, and the home of the 51-year-old whisky’s US unveiling, will be set up in a secret location. If you’re lucky enough to be part of the exclusive group of fans selected to partake, you will be able to immediately sample Craigellachie 51, and be one of the first in the world to do so. Bar 51 will also serve other expressions from the same range, including Craigellachie 13 and Craigellachie 23.

According to a press release from Craigellachie, “The brand is doing the unthinkable and making a typically collectible Scotch whisky uncollectible. We believe that whisky is made for drinking and enjoying with friends, and not for sitting on a shelf collecting dust.”

Bar 51 will be open for three nights from May 7-9. To enter to win a seat at the bar, fill out the form on Craigellachie’s website.
