THIS VIDEO created by the US NWS Tsunami Warning Center shows every earthquake recorded between January 1st, 2001 and December 31st, 2015, at a rate of 30 days per second. The number of occurences is very impressive, especially along the Indo-Australian and Pacific Plates where quakes seem incessant.

Note that each earthquake in the video is represented by a colored circle; the size of the circle represents the magnitude while the color represents the depth of the earthquake within the earth.

Where I am from, earthquakes are very rare. I experienced one small quake in 31 years of existence and it terrified me. Have you experienced an earthquake before? Are they common in your area of the world? Share your experience with us in the comment section.
