Located minutes from the Las Pozas gardens, Xilitla’s most famous attraction, Hotel Tapasoli is a boutique hobbit hotel whose property resembles The Shire from the Lord of the Rings. The hotel is relatively small, with cottage-style rooms that look like hobbit holes surrounding a pristine pool. The interiors are simple yet comfortable.

One of the most impressive features of Hotel Tapasoli is its garden, which is filled with exotic flowers and has a pond-style pool in the center. The hotel’s restaurant serves traditional Mexican cuisine made with fresh ingredients sourced from local farms. Guests can enjoy their meals on the terrace while taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Hotel Tapasoli also offers various activities for guests to enjoy during their stay, such as guided tours of Las Pozas, which is an incredible sculpture garden created by Edward James. Guests can also go hiking in nearby Huasteca Potosina, a region filled with natural attractions like waterfalls and canyons, or visit other nearby attractions such as the El Salto waterfall. While in Xilitla, you should also try to eat as much Huastecan cuisine as you can, from zacahuil (a type of tamale from the region) to cecina (thin slices of dried pork or beef).
