As part of the Matador Twitter contest, we’re spotlighting cool gear to give away to lucky readers.

Weighing in at 3.6 oz and with the size of a portable USB drive, the lightweight SteriPEN purification system is a practical tool for traveling in hygienically-challenging locations.

With this nifty pen, you can sterilize half a liter of water in under 50 seconds.

It also comes with an optional solar charging case, should you find yourself outdoors in backcountry woods with no way of replacing its batteries.

The filter uses two non-rechargeable, disposable CR123 batteries and comes with a custom-fit neoprene pouch.

More details on the SteriPEN water filter:

Weight: 105g/3.6 oz. with batteries.

Size: 6.1″ high – 4.75 cubic inch volume

Battery: Uses two CR123 batteries (included)

Battery life: Disposable — 100 treatments (16oz./0.5L); Rechargeable — 40-50 treatments (16oz./0.5L)

We’re giving away a free SteriPEN water purification kit!

We will be contacting her to send her a SteriPEN filter.
