New co-editor joins the Nights team.

Hi Matador Nights readers! I’m Kristin Conard, and I’m excited to be joining Matador Nights as a co-editor.

Why I’m Here

I wrote my first “book” around the age of five about a cat and a dog and a mouse (that was the title, genius I know) and my mother illustrated it for me. My passion has grown from there, and to be able to share it with someone who isn’t my mom is fantastic.

Thanks to the lovely Kate Sedgwick, Nights editor, I’ve been able to write a number of pieces for Nights in the past, and also thanks to her, I was invited onto the Matador Nights team.

When I’m Not Here

When I’m not working for Matador, I’m teaching at a few universities in New Jersey and, with that, grading seemingly endless amounts of papers.

I came here by way of Kansas, where I was born and grew up, New Mexico, where I was a Boy Scout working at Philmont Scout Ranch, and England, where I went to school for my masters in creative and critical writing, my thesis on Travel and American Identity.

I drink too much coffee, listen to music too loud, and I reread Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Joseph Heller’s Catch-22 at least once a year.

I’m continually dreaming of and planning for my next trip. Some ideas I have right now are learning to surf in Hawaii, going to a yoga retreat (maybe in the Arctic?) and hiking the Inca Trail (or maybe the Camino. Any suggestions on which one?).

Any questions for Kristin? Anything you’d like to see more of on Nights? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
