The Tropical Paradise of Mauritius Is Offering a Long-Term Visa for Remote Workers

The island nation of Mauritius, located east of Madagascar, is one of the most beautiful on Earth, but it’s not relying solely on its pristine beaches to entice visitors. The island is the latest paradisiacal destination to offer a new long-term visa that allows remote workers to stay for an extended period of time.

The Premium Travel Visa is available to all non-citizens and valid for up to a year (and can be renewed). Those interested must arrive as a tourist, retiree, or professional with their family, and plan to work remotely. You’ll be required to show proof of your long-stay plans and have travel and health insurance coverage for the initial part of your stay. You must also follow a set of guidelines, including complying with basic immigration requirements, showing documentary evidence on the purpose of your visit and confirmed accommodation, and proof that your main source of income comes from outside Mauritius.

Travelers to Mauritius are required to quarantine for 14 days at an approved facility, and show proof of a negative COVID PCR test taken no more than seven days before departure. Another test must be taken on your day of arrival, and two more on days seven and 14 of your stay.

You can’t apply for the long-term visa just yet, but it should be available online soon.
