If you’ve always had literary aspirations, but can never seem to find that perfect spot to sit down and write, Boston’s Hotel Commonwealth has the perfect solution for you. In partnership with New York Times bestselling author Ben Mezrich, the hotel has converted an entire suite into the ideal space for writing.

The winner of the Writers in Residence contest will get to spend two weeks in the new Ben Mezrich Reading Suite and work on their literary project without any distractions. The suite is furnished with simple things that help Mezrich find inspiration and overcome writer’s block, including a backgammon board, snacks, movies, an antique typewriter, and a small reading nook.

To enter, submit a sample of the first 500 words of your project and a 100-word description/proposal explaining your idea by October 1. Submissions are free, and will be reviewed by a local panel made from members of the Boston Book Festival, Hotel Commonwealth, and Ben Mezrich.

The free stay will take place from December 15 through December 30, 2019, so you should also make sure you’re available during those dates. And even if you don’t win the contest, you can still have the A-list author experience by paying to stay in the suite through November 30, at a starting rate of $699 per night.
