If you thought curling was weird, you’re in for a treat. Apparently, you can never underestimate winter enthusiasts’ ability to invent crazy new sports and games, and Crystal Ski Holidays has compiled this list of the 10 most unusual.

To zoom in, click here.

The sports range from single-person activities, like wok racing (yeah, you really just sit in a wok and go down a bobsled track) to a 56-person North Pole marathon. And it’s not just cold-weather countries getting in on the action. Italy, Japan, and the US can all lay claim to some pretty strange winter sports. Ice driving might sound familiar to those of us without a four-wheel-drive vehicle, but in Italy it’s actually a sport people “play” voluntarily.

Whether it’s shovel racing, which sounds like something we’d do as little kids, or Yukigassen, which is basically just a massive snowball fight, these sports might give you some pretty cool ideas for passing the time this winter.
